Aluminum Curtain Wall Example – National Mounted Warrior Museum
Located in Fort Hood, Killeen, TX – The National Mounted Warfare Foundation is a world-class museum that honors our mounted soldiers and shares their untold stories in service to our nation. The museum offers over 12,000 square feet of permanent gallery space, over 1,000 square feet of temporary exhibit space, and a 4,900 square-foot rotunda. Mettemeyer Engineering functioned as the Specialty Structural Engineer for the exterior curtain wall glazing systems. The building features complex curtain wall geometry with elliptical splayed sloping segments that required custom-designed unique engineered connections
Storefront Example – H.E.B. Austin, TX
A 70,000-square-foot Grocery Store that offers everything from fresh produce and meats to household goods and pharmacy services. Mettemeyer Engineering functioned as the Specialty Structural Engineer for the exterior storefront glazing systems. The building features storefront openings that are unusually wide at almost eleven feet. Design included working with supplier to provide nonstandard intermediate horizontal members to meet the project design requirements.
Sundshade Example – Bucklin Point Wastewatter Treatment Facility
Located in Bucklin Point, RI – A 22,000-square-foot Operations building for the Bucklin Point Wastewater Treatment Facility. The building houses the main SCADA Control Room, office space, and a lab for conducting water testing for the treatment facility. Mettemeyer Engineering functioned as the Specialty Structural Engineer for the exterior curtain wall, storefront glazing systems, and twelve-inch deep football-shaped vertical sunshades that are supported by the curtain wall system.

The Concourse A Expansion Phase II portion of this project included the structural design and analysis of a blast resistant curtain wall system. Mettemeyer Engineering acted as the Specialty Structural Engineer for the design of both the blast loads and the components and cladding loads for the exterior glazing systems. Blast analysis and design were performed for both the glazing and framing components as well as their connection to the surrounding condition. In addition to blast design, the scope included structural analysis and design of framing and anchorage for the components and cladding loads per governing building codes and standards for all elevations including both the blast elevations and non-blast elevations.

The St. Regis Chicago (Vista Tower) – a 95 story residential high-rise at nearly 1200 ft in height. Mettemeyer Engineering acted as the Specialty Structural Engineer for the exterior glazing systems. This unique project included engineering structural analysis and design of a custom window wall system with unique glazing, varying floor lines, multiple floor heights, a blow-through floor, slab covers, balconies, wind tunnel study pressures, mockup review, and cast in place channel embeds.
Glass Handrail Example – Bioscience Properties
Bioscience Properties Headquarters Point Buildings A and B Located at 4902 Headquarters Point San Diego, CA. It has 244,000 RSF Class A+ Life Science space. Mettemeyer Engineering was the Specialty Structural Engineer for the all-glass handrail system and for the design of the custom embed systems used for the handrail system connections. The handrails included interior, exterior and stairway rails.
Metal and ACM Panels – Clark University Center for Media Arts, Computing and Design Building
Clark University Center for Media Arts, Computing and Design Building – Located in Worcester, MA – A 70,000 square feet university facility for teaching, research, and innovation that opened in the Fall of 2023. The academic building is the new home for the Becker School of Design and Technology (BSDT) and the Department of Computer Science. Mettemeyer Engineering functioned as the Specialty Structural Engineer for the following exterior components and cladding systems: ACM Panels, Soffit Panels, Perforated Mechanical Screen Panels, Curtain Wall Systems with extended deep covers, and cast-in-place channel embeds for framing system support.
Skylight Example – University of Iowa Advanced Technology Lab – Iowa City, IA
This project included the structural analysis and design of five uniquely shaped skylight openings on different roof levels. Mettemeyer Engineering acted as the Specialty Structural Engineer for the analysis and design for the skylight frames, internal connections and the connection to the building structural conditions.
Unitized Curtain Wall Systems: Hudson Exchange Ph 2.
Located in Jersey City, NJ – A 1.3 million-square-foot mixed-use 60-story tower that will rise 634 feet in height. The tower will feature 802 luxury rental apartments, 115,000 square feet of retail space, and over 20,000 square feet of publicly accessible green space. Mettemeyer Engineering functioned as the Specialty Structural Engineer for all aspects of the exterior unitized curtain wall system. Our scope of work included the structural design and analysis of the unitized curtain wall system, glazing, ACM panels, and custom cast-in-place embeds. Structural design was based on the design loads provided by a wind tunnel study.
Windows Example – 212 West 95th Street, New York, NY
A 20-story condominium on the Upper West Side with 38 residences. Mettemeyer Engineering functioned as the Specialty Structural Engineer for the architectural grade aluminum windows and stick built aluminum curtain wall system. Our scope of work included structural design and analysis of both window and curtain wall framing and connection to surrounding structural conditions.
